Beyond Invictus:
HeartLight Center Role
My work with HeartLight Center and local community grief support programs
In addition to my work with Invictus by Genna, I am also honored to serve as the New Mexico Community Liaison for HeartLight Center - a grief support and education non-profit.

I facilitate peer-based, group-centered grief support through open and curriculum-based groups, workshops, and community programs, creating welcoming spaces where people can navigate loss with resilience and meaning. My work blends evidence-informed practices with compassionate companioning and includes specialized groups for substance-related loss, sudden and traumatic loss, child and spouse loss, family caregivers grieving a death loss, and more. See below for a full list of in-person support group offerings in New Mexico.

I developed and implemented the innovative Grieving Brain Support Group and Book Club curriculum for HeartLight Center, integrating book discussions, educational content, and guided grief-processing practices. In addition to direct facilitation, I cultivate partnerships with hospices, funeral homes, and community leaders, coordinate remembrance events, and serve as a regional ambassador and Chair of the Grief Networking Alliance of New Mexico.

wHAT A MILESTONE!
In 2026, HeartLight Center celebrates and honors 25 years of supporting the community. I'm honored to be apart of the journey.

I don’t just sit with grief. I help shape how entire communities respond to it.
While Invictus is where I work closely with individuals and families, my role with HeartLight Center allows me to build grief support at the community level — expanding access, partnerships, and programs so fewer people have to navigate loss alone.
In addition to holding space for individual stories, I help build the programs, partnerships, and systems that make grief support more visible, welcoming, and accessible to everyone. Because healing shouldn’t depend on luck or proximity — it should be part of the fabric of a community. This work strengthens everything I offer through Invictus. It keeps me connected to the bigger picture — not just how we support one person, but how we care for entire communities.

In my role as New Mexico Community Liaison for HeartLight Center, I facilitate seven peer grief support groups serving both the New Mexico and virtual communities. I also design and lead curriculum-based support groups and workshops grounded in research, reflection, education, active listening, and shared humanity. If you have questions about any of these offerings, I welcome you to reach out at greeves@heartlightcenter.org

I serve as a bridge between HeartLight and the community — part educator, part facilitator, part program builder.
At its heart, this role is about one thing: making it easier for people to find support when they need it most.
Working at both levels — individual and community — shapes how I show up as a grief professional.
It keeps my practice grounded in research, responsive to real needs, and deeply connected to the people and communities I serve.
At Invictus, I (usually and often) hold the lantern for one person at a time.
At HeartLight, I help build the harbor.
If you'd like to talk about HeartLight programs or explore partnership opportunities, I’m happy to connect.
