About Peer Grief Support with Invictus by Genna
Peer grief support—through coaching and/or peer counseling—provides a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for healing, exploration, and growth, no matter the type of loss you've experienced, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a job, a relationship, health challenges, estrangement, and more. Get support from someone who understands grief firsthand. Peer grief support offers a safe space to talk, process emotions, and find guidance. Support is available for all types of loss. While not clinical therapy, it provides compassionate listening, education, and healing-focused support.
What Peer Grief Support Looks Like
Peer grief support can include any combination of the following activities (and more):
-
Express your emotions in a safe, brave, and supportive space.
-
Share your story and talk about your source of grief —even the parts that feel hard to say.
-
Engage in healing activities and guided exercises (e.g., writing, breathing, etc.).
-
Create meaningful rituals, self-care routines, and goals.
-
Discover helpful resources and support networks in your community.
-
Explore your identity and needs in a judgment-free space.
-
Find ways to live a meaningful life again.
The Difference Between Clinical Grief Support and Peer Grief Support
Clinical grief support means working with a licensed mental health professional who has specialized training in addressing grief as well as other emotional or psychological concerns. Clinical providers can diagnose, treat, and develop therapeutic plans for mental health conditions. Some focus specifically on grief and loss, while others bring a broader mental health expertise.

Peer grief support is different. It offers a compassionate space to connect with someone who understands the reality of loss, not from textbooks but from lived experience and focused grief education. Peer support provides listening, encouragement, and practical tools for coping—but it does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional medical or mental health care.

Many people find it helpful to engage in both types of support. The important thing is discovering what combination feels right for you.

**Because Genna is not a clinical provider, she will walk alongside you as a peer, continually checking in about your needs. If it becomes clear that additional professional support could be helpful, she will guide you toward trusted resources so you can receive the right level of care.
